  1. Session 2011/2012 2 SMC4523 AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERING DESIGN Detail Design Analysis Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kamarul Baharin Tawi Dr. Nurulakmar Abu Husain

  2. Failure Modes and Effects Analysis Do you want to know if your new design is strong enough? Will it break? Will it deform? Will it get too hot? Are you concerned about  vibration or fatigue? Do you need to understand the flow of gas or liquid? Do you need to conduct an FMEA in order to meet your customer's requirement, or to predict failure modes and what might be done about them? What about optimising your design to save material cost, but still meet stress & stiffness targets? ANALYSIS!!!!! If the answer to any of these is yes Ref: Maher, M. L. (1990) Process Models for Design Synthesis, AI Magazine Vol. 11 No. 4 pp. 49-58

  3. Failure Modes & Effects Analysis a procedure in product development and operations management for analysis of potential failure modes Failure modes any errors or defects in a process, design, or item, especially those that affect the intended function of the product and or process, and can be potential or actual.  Effects analysis study the consequences of those failures.

  4. can minimize or even eliminate the need for physical prototyping and testing DESIGN ANALYSIS!!!!! Can be applied to just about anything Analyzing machine designs Injection molded plastics Cooling systems Products that emit electromagnetic fields Systems that are influenced by fluid dynamics … In the field of mechanical engineering.. .. can solve a wide range of product development problems .. predict the physical behavior of just about any part or assembly under any loading conditions a simple beam under a bending load car crash simulations vibration analysis of aircraft

  5. Mechanical Design Analysis??

  6. ANALYTICAL EXPERIMENTAL FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS (FEA) STATICS DYNAMICS STRENGTH MATERIALS … Mechanical Elements??

  7. SME 3523 COMPONENT DESIGN!!!
