Opening Remarks • Assessing your students to meet the NCLB as well as the TEA requirements • Many districts are taking a proactive approach and also assessing their teachers and staff • Results are in….. • Now what?? • We’re here today to discuss solutions…. • That will increase your teacher’s knowledge and confidence in using technology in the classroom • Incorporate technology into your student’s curriculum • Lead to improved student achievement • Prepare your students for a 21st Century world

Jasper Independent School District • Staff Development Solution focused on meeting SBEC requirements • Mandatory for all professional staff • Training is broken down into focused sections (5) and given a completion deadline for each section • Prescriptive training rewards those who have already mastered the technology competencies • Incentives rewarded to the first 25% on each campus that finished the first two sections • Provide framed certificates for participants when entire course of study is completed • Taking a proactive approach to the tech literacy addition to the 2012 Nation’s Report Card Luanne Talbot Instructional Technology Coordinator 8 years deliveringtechnology training for all professional staff as well as the district website, online grade book, administering the online technology training from InfoSource.

Tyler Independent School District • Student use • CTE Program uses this solution as the core curriculum • BCIS classes use Microsoft Office, and IC3 • BCIS uses Microsoft Office for Credit Recovery at the Alternative Night School for Truancy students. • Using SimpleAssessment to meet NCLB and state reporting requirements • Staff use • Staff development • Using assessments and prescriptive training for staff to demonstrate proficiencies. • Creating “levels” of technology competency based on test results and developing customized modules for each level • Teachers can earn Staff Development Credit if they choose to complete additional training • Plan to use SimpleAssessment for benchmarking teacher technology skills Suzanne Orbison Instructional Technology Facilitator 19 Years in the district, the first 7 years as classroom teacher for 8th grade computer literacy, the next 7 in instructional technology, training teachers to integrate technology into the classroom, and the last 5 leading a team of 12 Instructional Technology Trainers to facilitate staff development.

Anthony Independent School District • Student use • Incorporating online technology curriculum into the Tech Apps class • ISTE NETS–S 2nd Edition content • Microsoft Office content • Using Prescriptive training with Pre & Post  tests to create custom curriculum for each student • Staff use • Staff development • Using to meet components of the Technology Plan • Provide additional resource to help teacher integrate technology in their classrooms • Use training to prepare for migration to Office 2007 • Meet District’s Vision • Embrace innovative teaching methods with high standards for performance. • Develop and support an innovative curriculum to meet the changing needs of learners provided by highly qualified and caring staff. • Community Involvement: • Future plans to include parents and local community members Ron Haugen Superintendent 32 years of experience in the Educational profession MISSION STATEMENT:The mission of the Anthony Independent School District is to prepare all students for lifeand learning beyond high school taking advantage of their unique bilingual and biculturalheritage.
