  5. Dialect A unique form of a language Most people are familiar with the New York accent, the Boston accent and the Southern accent. However, the term "accent" really refers only to pronunciation. There are different pronunciations, different vocabularies, different phrases and different grammatical rules; these are what are known as "dialects.“ American: color Canadian: colour American: winter hat Canadian: toqueAmerican: about Canadian: about (aboot!)
