  3. EACH BLOOD TYPE PRODUCES ANTIBODIES AGAINST ANY ANTIGEN IT DOES NOT POSSESS – AGAINST ANY ANTIGEN THAT IS FOREIGN

  4. WHEN INCOMPATIBLE BLOOD TYPES ARE MIXED, A DANGEROUS CONDITION RESULTS CALLED AGGLUTINATION

  5. THERE ARE THREE MAJOR ANTIGENS ON THE SURFACE OF RED BLOOD CELLS

  6. - A ANTIGEN - B ANTIGEN RH ANTIGEN

  7. LIKEWISE THERE ARE THREE IMPORTANT ANTIBODY TYPES PRODUCED AGAINST EACH OF THE THREE ANTIGENS

  9. TYPE A- BLOOD • CONTAINS A ANTIGEN • MAKES ANTIBODIES AGAINST B BLOOD – ANTI-B & RH FACTOR

  10. TYPE B+ BLOOD • MAKES B ANTIGEN • MAKES RH ANTIGEN • MAKES ANTIBODIES AGAINST A BLOOD – ANTI -A

  11. TYPE AB- BLOOD • CONTAINS BOTH A AND B ANTIGENS • MAKES NEITHER ANTI-A OR ANTI-B BOTH ARE SELF PROTEINS • MAKES ANTI –RH ANTIBODIES

  12. TYPE O- BLOOD • CONTAINS NEITHER A NOR B NOR RH ANTIGENS • MAKES ANTI-A AND ANTI-B AND ANTI –RH ANTIBODIES

  13. TYPE A+ BLOOD • CAN GIVE BLOOD TO …… • CAN RECEIVE BLOOD FROM….
