  4. Looking for a roommate or suitemate? Check out our roommate connection spreadsheet to find people who are also looking for an additional suitemate or roommate! • Tinyurl.com/witroommateconnection2019 Use Residence’s roommate matching system. • The roommate matching feature on Residence connects you with people who provided similar answers on the roommate matching questionnaire. Utilize the Wentworth Class of 2023 Facebook page. • Please note this Facebook group is NOT affiliated with the Office of Housing & Residential Life. However, students in the past have successfully found roommates and suitemates using this page. Tip from Housing & Residential Life:Successful roommate relationships start with clear communication. Be honest, be open-minded, and remember that you don’t need to be best friends with your roommate to have a successful relationship!

  5. How to form a roommate group First-year students are NOT required to form a roommate group or fill the entire room or suite. • This means you do not need to form a roommate group if you do not wish to; instead, you can place yourself into any open spot within the residential community during your assigned selection time.  • If you decide to form a roommate group, you may need to split up this group if your desired room or suite configuration is not available at time of selection.  Students who wish to form a roommate group should designate ONE student to act as the group leader. • The group leader is the only person who can select for the group, so make sure this person is reliable and available at the group selection time.  • The group leader does NOT need to be the person with the best selection time. The group leader can be anyone! Tip from Housing & Residential Life:Remember that your group selection time is the best time of whomever is in your group. If the person with the best selection time leaves the group, your time will adjust to the next best time.Be consistently checking your selection time leading up to the selection period to ensure you’re good to go!

  6. To form a roommate group, start by: How to form a roommate group Deciding in your group who the group leader will be. • This person should be able and willing to be available during your group’s selection time. • The leader can designate another student as the leader by hovering your mouse over the list of group members and selecting the up arrow over whomever they wish to promote to group leader. • Remember: the group leader selects housing for the entire group, so it should be someone who is reliable and on top of this process!

  7. How to Leave a roommate group Not interested in staying in this roommate group? You have until July 12th, 2019 to leave this group and either go into the process as an individual or join another group. If you leave a roommate group, please note that you will NOT be able to rejoin this group; for assistance, email housing@wit.edu and we can manually add you back into the group.

  8. Receiving a roommate invitation Sending a roommate invitation Sending & Receiving a roommate invitation When you receive a roommate invitation, you’ll receive both an email with the request and a notification on Residence next to your roommate code (see above). It’s up to you as the person who received this invitation to accept or decline. If you accept, you are joining this person’s roommate group. If you decline, they will receive a notification that you have declined this request. When you identify someone whom you’d like to form a roommate group with, you can send them an invitation. They can either accept this invitation and join your roommate group or decline this invitation and you’ll need to keep searching. You can also modify the message before sending. Tip from Housing & Residential Life: Don’t wait until the last second to find a roommate(s) if you want one. Start early, as it sometimes takes time!

  9. Housing Selection at a glance Your roommate code Add & remove roommates here Select room here Your selection countdown Find a roommate two ways Leave an existing roommate group

  10. Seeing available spaces • On July 9th, you will be able to see available spaces. Once your roommate group is finalized, start looking at these spaces to get an idea of what you may want to select during the selection period! Open this to invite roommates and see available spaces! Selection date and time

  11. Seeing available spaces See a room you may want to select? Favorite it by clicking on the Utilize search filters to find spaces in specific floors or in certain communities! How many spaces are available in that room or suite

  12. SELECTING A SPACE • Ready to select a space? Once it’s your individual or group’s selection time, act quickly and intentionally. If selecting into Evans Way/Tudbury, the group leader will need to assign all students in your roommate group into a bedroom within this suite. If selecting into Baker, you do not need to place individual students – just select the space and hit finalize! Once all students have been assigned, click on Finalize Selection. You will receive an automatic email confirming your selection. Forward this email to all individuals in your roommate group! To select a space, click on Open Room. Tip from Housing & Residential Life:There are two roommate groups that will select a every twominutes – make your selection quickly and carefully, or you may lose the space you’re considering!

  13. Important Tips for success • Don’t set your mind on one specific suite or room.  Ensure that your group is communicating about what kind of housing options they are interested in selecting.   • Always have a backup plan.  For example, if you are a group of 6, but there are no suites with 6 open spots left, how will you break up?  Two groups of 3?  Three groups of 2?  If so, which group members will break off into smaller groups?  These are all good discussions to have if you are entering as a larger group.

  14. Important Tips for success • For students in groups larger than 2 individuals, please make sure that you decide beforehand which students will be direct roommates within the suite. Waiting to have this discussion until your selection time may slow down your ability to select. • Suite and room assignments are final so please make sure you are certain before you click that finalize button!
