  4. What is the MBTI? • A personality inventory developed by Isabel Myers and Katherine Briggs • Designed to make C.J. Jung’s theory of psychological types accessible and practical. • Internationally used (thirty-three translations). • Provides a four letter code for identifying type dynamic patterns. Psychological Type Theory • Assumes eight cognitive or mental processes (four for perceiving and four for judging) that are used by each person to respond and adapt. • Asserts that we have a preferred perceiving and judging process. • Proposes that we can develop the ability to use all of the processes positively and appropriately.
