Important Information • Deadline for submitting applications for 2013-2014: January 14th, 2013 at the respective faculties • Please see information on requirements http://www.mcgill.ca/students/international/studyabroad/mcgill/first/ and for the application process at: http://www.mcgill.ca/students/international/exchange/apply • Minimum of 8 credits for each term at the host university • a proposed list of courses to be taken at the host institution needs to be prepared both on Minerva and on a separate course approval and transfer credit form and needs to be approved by faculty advisor as part of the application process

DAAD Summer Course Grants Scholarships for 3-4 weeks summer language and cultural studies courses at German universities • deadline for grants: December 15, 2012 • full-time students at a Canadian or U.S. institution or foreign nationals enrolled at a U.S. or Canadian university for at least 2 years can apply • 2 years of university level German or equivalent at the time of application • 850 Euros plus travel subsidy of $300-450

Werkstudentenprogramm 2-3 months internships or jobs in Germany with various employers • around 35 places available, but an internship or job is not guaranteed (depends on the needs of employers) or you can find your own internship or job • two years of university level German or equivalent required

ZAV: Internship Placement in Germany for Non-Canadian students for students who cannot participate in the Werkstudentenprogramm because of their nationality: • registration as a student for the duration of the internship required; at least 2nd year of studies • good German knowledge (2 years of university level German recommended) • agreement with the Federal Employment Services for work authorization necessary (except for France, Great Britain, Sweden, Spain etc. – see handout)

PAD – PädagogischerAustauschdienst Deutschland Language Assistant Positions for English or French at German secondary schools • during the academic year September-May • 12 hours of weekly teaching as an assistant • German should be your major or minor • good knowledge of German required • stipend of 800 Euros per month ($1100)

PAD Applications through the Ministère de l’Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport: • open to Canadian citizens, who are full- or part-time students at a university in Québec • for French: French has to be mother tongue and one had to have attended the French school system • good knowledge of German • interview at the Ministère after being pre-selected for the program • admittance to the program allows for deferring student loans for a period of six months or longer

DAAD Study Scholarship Scholarship for independent study or a full M.A. degree at a German university • open to graduating students and recent graduates in all academic fields • enrolled full-time at the time of application • open to U.S. and Canadian citizens or permanent residents or foreign nationals enrolled at a U.S. or Canadian university for at least 2 years • well-defined research or study proposal plan as part of application

DAAD Study Scholarship • invitation from an academic partner or research institution strongly recommended • applicants in the arts, humanities and social sciences should have a good knowledge of German • Scholarship will be awarded between October-July • $750 per month plus subsidy for travel costs (850-1300 Euros) and health care, limited funds available for rent subsidy and family allowance • Deadline: November 15th, 2012
