  2. ¤Oscar Fingal O'Flahertie Wills Wilde ¤ born in Dublin 16 October 1854 ¤ father Sir William Wilde, leading eye & ear surgeon, gifted writer ¤mother Lady Jane Francesca Wilde, succesful poet & journalist ¤educated at Portora Royal School, Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, Trinity College(1864-71), Trinity College, Dublin (1871-74) and Magdalen College, Oxford (1874-78).  ¤aesthetic movement ‘Art for Art’s Sake’ ¤1878 Newdigate prize for his poem ‘’Ravenna’’

  3. ¤1881 first collection of poetry – “Poems” ¤lectured in many countries ¤on May 24, 1884 married Constance Lloyd ¤had two sons Cyril and Vyvian ¤In 1888 he published The Happy Prince and Other Tales, fairy-stories written for his two sons ¤1891 “Picture of Dorian Gray” ¤In 1891 Wilde began an affair with Lord Alfred Douglas, nicknamed 'Bosie'
