  2. Who can apply? • Current 8th grader • Will complete Algebra I • Will attend DHS, EFHS or FHS • Interest in math, science, medicine, engineering, computers

  3. How to apply 1. Turn in Parent Release form 2. Go to http://dcmst.dearbornschools.org Click on the tab 8th grade applicants and follow directions 3. Submit essay • Type answer in word document to check for spelling and grammar errors • Copy and paste into questionnaire

  4. Admission Committee GPA MEAP Scores Teacher Recommendations Essay Responses Acceptance

  5. DCMST • 9th and 10th Graders attend in the afternoon • Go to home high school for hours 1,2,3 • Eat lunch at home high school • Take the DPS bus to DCMST • Take DPS bus back to home high school

  6. 9th Grade 1 credit Honors Chemistry 1 credit Honors Integrated Mathematics 2 (Algebra 2 & Geometry) 0.5 credit Technology & Web Design 0.5 credit Scientific Investigation

  7. 10th Grade 1 credit Honors Biology 1 credit Honors Integrated Mathematics 3 (Algebra 2, Geometry, Trig, Probability) 0.5 credit Intro to Computer Science (Java Programming) 0.5 credit Research (Statistics, Science Fair)

  8. 11th Grade 1 credit Honors Physics 0.5 credit Accelerated Pre-Calculus 0.5 credit Calculus I – dual enrolled or 0.5 credit Calculus Foundations 1 credit or two 0.5 credits STEM Elective Science, Technology, Engineering, Math

  9. 12th Grade 0.5 credit Mathematics (State-mandated in senior year) AP Calculus BC, DE Calculus I, II, III, AP Statistics or other approved math electives 3 total STEM Credits

  10. DCMST and AP Advanced Placement (AP) courses as defined by The College Board AP offered at DCMST • AP Calculus BC • AP Computer Science • AP Statistics • AP Environmental Science

  11. Home High School and AP • May take any AP courses in Language Arts or Social Studies • May take AP Biology, AP Chemistry, or AP Physics

  12. DCMST and College Courses Juniors and Seniors may take college classes (at HFCC or UMD) with approval of DCMST faculty

  13. DCMST and Sports • Return to home high school by the time school lets out • Many of DCMST students participate at Varsity level and have gone on to be State Athletes • Some continue to University / National Level

  16. Merits • National Merit Scholar and National Merit Scholar Finalists • Valedictorians and Salutorians at all 3 high schools • AP Scholars • Brehm Scholars
