  3. Manga parodies are called doujinshis. Doujinshi sales total $275 million USD in Japan. Only recently companies in the United States started writing manga. While not common, some mangas are even used in churches and are religious in nature. Manga continued

  4. Animes are normally mangas that have been made into cartoonish T.V. shows. Not all animes are based on a manga. Animes are usually translated to English after being released in Japanese. Popular animes include Naruto, Bleach, Pokemon, and Astro-Boy (Japan only) Anime

  5. The anime with the most episodes is Sazae-san has over 6,000 episodes, even though each is only 6 minutes long. The longest running time of an anime is Doraemon, taking over 1,000 days straight. Most popular mangas have a relating anime. Anime Continued

  6. Many animes are not successful, and only run for a short time. After and during WWII, similar to American comic books, it was not uncommon to find propaganda related anime and manga. While Japan was struck by an earthquake, anime and manga continued production as normal. Anime Continued
