  5. SAFETY • Hazard Recognition • Implement a Culture of Safety • Show by Example • Hold Safety Meetings • Know Safety Rules • Enforce Safety Rules • Support the Safety Program

SAFETY PROGRAM • Commitment– Safety considered as important as any other part of the organization’s business. • Accountability – Everyone is accountable for safety, (Employees & Supervisors). • Involvement – Safety is everyone’s responsibility and everyone is expected to be apart of safety. • Hazard Recognition – Educate and train on how to identify hazards. • Hazard Control – Educate and train to know how to mitigate hazards. Empower employees to eliminate or reduce their exposure to hazards. • Investigate – Investigate accidents to identify root causes and ways of preventing them from reoccurring. • Training – Regular, repetitive training. Regular safety meetings to share information and be a reminder of safety. • Evaluation – Track and regularly evaluate safety performance. Know where you need to improve prevention.

WORKING WITH YOUR SUPERVISOR • Be Predictable - Be Reliable • Trustworthy Information, confirm/verify/substantiate • Reasoned Ideas – Earn Credibility and Keep It • No Surprises – Communicate & Close the Loop • Solve Problems - Don’t Bring Complaints Supervisors Stand In Two Lanes of Traffic – “Connected to Their Employees as a Co-Worker and Separated as Their Boss”
