Overview Credit Info Contact us Conference Summary A Dietitian's Survival Guide To Understanding and Addressing Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth is organized by Dietitian Central. Live Event Date: Nov 06, 2018 Expiration Date: Nov 05, 2021 Credits: 1.0 Description: Did you know the prevalence of IBS is approximately 10% in Western countries and, due to its chronic relapsing course, up to 50% of patients consult a physician for these symptoms? Did you also know that 60-80% of IBS is linked to Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO)? Knowing these statistics, it is inevitable that dietitians will encounter patients with this diagnosis. SIBO is challenging to manage and can cause other conditions such as depression, brain fog, fatigue, eczema, rosacea among others. However, most doctors do not address SIBO in its entirety, or know how to treat it. This is where a dietitian can be a critical piece by fully understanding the scope of this condition, identifying risk factors, and knowing how to intervene. As with any GI condition, diet and nutrition are vital for the successful management of SIBO. This webinar will give dietitians a comprehensive, up to date, evidenced based review of the research that will put you ahead of the curve. Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this one-hour course, the participant should be able to: • De?ne SIBO. • Identify risk factors that contribute to the development of SIBO. • Recognize coexisting conditions that can be attributed to SIBO. • Differentiate among appropriate tools to diagnose SIBO. • Select appropriate diet and nutritional intervention strategies for the treatment of SIBO.
