  1. Slogans

  2. What is a slogan? • motto: a favorite saying of a sect or political group • A slogan is a memorable motto or phrase used in a political, commercial, religious and other context as a repetitive expression of an idea • A slogan is used in Scottish heraldry as a heraldic motto or a secondary motto. They usually appear above the crest on a coat of arms • A battle cry (original meaning); A distinctive phrase of a person or group of people; A phrase associated with a product, used in advertising • Short, memorable advertising phrase: Examples include "Coke Is It," "Just Do It," and "Don’t Leave Home Without It.” • Phrase used to advertise a product, or to identify a company or organization. • A noun phrase identified with a firm. A motto used in selling an enterprise or company. • A catch phrase or small group of words that are combined in a special way to identify a product or company.

  3. Why are slogans important to advertising? • Business slogans are critical to the image of your business, regardless of the size. The slogan or tagline is part of your business image. It is a major part of your branding. • While a slogan contains just a few words, from one to seven as a rule, it is not easy to write. Fact is, it takes more effort to write a meaningful slogan --- to wrap up the essence of your business --- in a few words, than it does to write a long sales letter. In the latter you have lots of room to create a sales message. In the former, you're limited to a few words to sum up the entire meaning of your business!
