HOW TO ACHIEVE THE SET TARGETS OF ANIMAL NUTRITION • Impose export duty on De Oiled cakes used in production of cattle feed. • Feed cost have risen three fold in the recent past • Feed contributes to over 70% of milk production • Use computerized formula finalized by NDDB • Establish cattle feed compounding factories in the milk shed areas of these Registered Dairy Plants.

HOW TO ACHIEVE THE SET TARGETS OF GENETIC IMPROVEMENT IN TERMS OF BREEDING – A.I • Poor conception rate at present • Production of quality cows & buffalos, bulls of different breed • Establish deep frozen semen banks with progeny tested bulls in the above milk shed areas • Locally trained inseminators with liquid nitrogen cylinders on motorcycle in the milk shed areas

  5. 5. DISEASE FREE ZONE • Economic losses through disease in cow/ buffalos • Small/ marginal farmer is virtually ruined as it is his only asset • FSSA to established Central Epidemiological Surveillance Unit to address food borne diseases • Including spread of Brucellosis

RECOMMENDED STRATEGY/ POLICY TO BE FOLLOWED TO ACHIEVE THE SET TARGETS QUICKLY • Urgent need of Public, Private, Cooperative and NDDB National Dairy Plan • Collectively address the challenges of increasing productivity for inclusive growth • FOCUS IN THE MILK SHED AREA, where all infrastructure viz MCCs / BMCs / Compact QC lab • Laid system of regular weekly milk price payment and field extension staff are there • With this new approach and partnership the milk processing by organized sector will increase from 12% to 30% in plan period.
