1. January 16, 2014 • Dear Parent/Guardian, • Mt. Mourne School and Davidson College are partnering in an effort to promote the academic, personal/social and career development of Mt. Mourne students. We are excited to offer 8th grade students an opportunity to visit the Davidson College campus on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 (Iredell-Statesville early release day). Davidson College has invited Mt. Mourne students to: attend a presentation by the Admissions Office, tour the campus and have lunch at “Vail Commons” (campus dining facility). This is an excellent opportunity for our students to gain insight into academics and student life on a college campus. • To ensure a meaningful experience for all, Davidson College asked that we limit this experience to 100 students. Therefore, we will accept student sign-ups on a “first come-first serve” basis. The cost for this trip is $12/student – includes lunch and transportation. Schedule for the day is as follows: • 10:30 a.m. – students check out from Mt. Mourne School and load buses for Davidson College • 11:00 a.m. – admissions presentation • 11:30 a.m. – campus tours with current students • 12:45 p.m. – lunch at Vail Commons • 1:30 p.m. – load buses to return to Mt. Mourne School • 1:45 p.m. – parents pick up students at Mt. Mourne school (in bus/front lot) • If you would like for your student to attend the visit to Davidson College, please complete the permission slip below and return slip with your $12 payment to our school counselor – Kori Thompson. Please make checks payable to Mt. Mourne School. The deadline for permission slips and $12 payment is Friday, January 31. Should the trip fill up before the deadline, an announcement/Connect Ed message will be made. We need 4 parent chaperones for this trip; cost for chaperones is $12/adult. If you are interested in chaperoning, please make note on your child’s permission slip. Chaperones will be randomly selected (and contacted) on February 3.
