  12. MTAIP Lessons Learned • Census Bureau requirements can be very different from State/Local/Tribal GIS files • Street centerline approach differs from cadastre-level geography • Local files may not follow Census Bureau definition of topology

  13. MTAIP Feedback to source providers The Census Bureau will offer a “local edition” TIGER/Line file that includes information about the data used to realign TIGER to local source providers.

WebTIGER • Ability to view maps of and download data from the Census Bureau's TIGER® geographic database without specialized software • Serves TIGER® data and map images over the Internet using Geography Markup Language (GML) • OpenGIS Consortium (OGC) standards compliant • WebTIGER utilizes TIGER/GML

Currently, the annual Boundary and Annexation Survey (BAS) is conducted in a paper format • WebBAS permits local governments to update TIGER governmental unit boundaries over the web • Work on prototype to continue in FY 04 • OpenGIS Consortium (OGC) compliant • Integrates geospatial and form data to allow web-based alternative for respondents WebBAS
