  4.  Your task • Read p.48-9 and take notes on Wolsey’s policies towards the Church. In one colour note his successes & in another his failures or those he was severely criticised for. • Read Polydore Vergil’s description of Wolsey on p.48. How accurate is his description? Remember NOP!

  7.  Extension task • Read the review of Gwyn’s book, ‘The King’s Cardinal’. List the key points Gwyn makes in defence of Wolsey’s reputation and state whether you accept them or not

  8. Did Wolsey really weaken the English Church? Write this question in the centre of a piece of paper. One of you is an opponent the other a supporter. Hold a silent debate. Who wins? What do you think were the most convincing points and why?

  9.  Homework • Finish reading the John Guy article on Henry VIII and his ministers and take notes on the questions provided. One side A4.
