  5. How busy is our site? - continued • Anticipating a 40% increase during Holiday • Avg. 185,000 sessions/day • Peak of 262,000 sessions • 1.9 MM page views in a single day • Avg. 171 MM database transactions/day • Avg. 1.2 TB of data read/written/day

  6. High-Level Architecture – Before • Dedicated server solution for IIS and SQL. • Not enough SAN space for all servers, most SQL servers utilized slower DAS. • Equates to a lack of flexibility, reduced scalability, and greater licensing and rack costs.

High-Level Architecture - Now • Virtualized/blade server environment. • 14 blade servers, 3 rack mount servers, 25 VM’s • High speed SAN storage available for all servers, with SQL utilizing EFD’s. • Scalability achieved with less cost and greater speed. • Virtualization reduces licensing costs and hardware costs.
