Sec TwoPromotion Criteria Express Stream: Pass in EL and a % pass in the average of all subjects • Pupils who are unable to meet the promotion criteria will be laterally transferred to Normal stream. There is no retention at 2 Express. Sec 3 Normal (Academic) Sec 3 Express Meet Promotion Criteria Has Not Met Promotion Criteria Sec 2 Express

Sec TwoPromotion Criteria Normal(A) Stream: At least a Pass in EL & 2 other subjects, or pass 4 subjects • Laterally transferred to 3 Express: 75% or higher in the average for all subjects • Retained at same level for those who has not met minimum attainment level. 3 Express 3 Normal Overall average >75% Meet Promotion Criteria Has not met promotion criteria Sec 2N(A) Sec 2 N(A)

The overall performance of a pupil is assessed based on the weighting below:- • Semester 1 Continual Assessment: 15% • Common Test is one component of the CA • Semester 1 Examination (Mid-year Exam) 25% • Semester 2 Continual Assessment 15% • Common Test is one component of the CA • Semester 2 Examination (End of Year Exam) 45% Overall 100%

  8. Streaming Criteria • The selection of applicants to courses is based • 1st, on merit and • 2nd, on the order of choice of courses • We will also try to take your child’s aptitude and interest into consideration for choice of elective subject

PROPOSED SEC 3 SUBJECT COMBINATION FOR 2007 • When will streaming exercise be conducted? • After final examination when the child has knowledge of his overall results • A streaming survey will be conducted to note the students’ interest and aptitude and career aspirations. • After release of mid-year examination results

Preliminary Selection Criteria Express Course • Pure Sciences: 8 subjects • EL: A1-B4 • Maths: A1-B3 • Science: A1-B3 • Overall Results: >60% • Physics/ Chemistry Science: 7 subjects • For those opting for A.Maths & Biology • Maths & Science: A1-B4 • Passed opted subject Normal Course • For A.Maths Class • Maths: 1-3 N(T) Course • Science option for all

N(A) Review • Selected Sec 2N(A) are to bypass 4N Examination and sit for the ‘O’ Level Examination *EMS & Overall > 55% at Sec 2 Final Examination AND * EMS & Overall > 55% at Sec 3 Final Examination * Teacher’s Recommendation & P’s Endorsement • Offer Express Subjects to selected Sec 2N(A) pupils • MTL and/ E. Maths • Sec 2 Final Examination • MTL, Maths > 70% • Subject Teacher’s Recommendation & P’s Endorsement
