  1. SPHERES GUI v4.1.1.6 • “Installation” in a computer without SPHERES Comm • No “installation” program required; GUI is self-contained • Download three (3) files from the SSL server • http://ssl.mit.edu/spheres/gui • GUI.exe, GUI.ini, and CrewTraining2008.spf • If when you download “CrewTraining2008.spf” it is saved as “CrewTraining2008.spf.zip” or “CrewTraining2008.zip”, please rename it to “CrewTraining2008.spf” --- Internet Explorer sometimes changes the names of SPF’s since they use a similar header as ZIP files. You must show file extensions to ensure that the .zip extension was not added. • Copy GUI.exe & GUI.ini to a local directory • E.g. c:\spheres\ • Edit GUI.ini and ensure the following lines are correct/there: • StorageBase=c:\spheres\ <or whatever directory the GUI is installed in; it must exist> • DisableComm=1 • Run the GUI • You will get several warnings that default files are being created • Exit the GUI • In StorageBase (e.g. c:\spheres\) it will create the necessary directories and files to run: • Folders: CurrentProgram, CurrentData, CurrentGuiData, Data, Program • Beacon Placement Files (bmp, dat, ini, & zip) • Copy CrewTraining2008.spf to <StorageBase>\Programs • Run the GUI • You can run all parts of the GUI but no data will appear • Data is not simulated

  2. Adendum for VR Animation • Also download VRAnimation.zip • Unzip the file into the directory of the GUI, under folder “VRAnimation”:<path to GUI>\VRAnimation\ • You will get 4 .m files, one .wrl file and 4 directories (@Animation, @Schedulable, @SimpleSphere, @VrAnimation) • To see the VR show up: • In the GUI, select the “Tests” button • Say “Yes” to warning that beacons are not setup • Select the “Matlab Demo” button • Note Matlab will take several seconds to start! • You will get a warning message if the window does not show up
