Video Game (ビデオゲーム) • 1985 the Japan-based company Nintendo(にんてんど) released a system called "Family Computer" or "Famicom" in Japan • Japanese companies such as Sega and NEC soon followed Nintendo's lead and released their own home-gaming consoles in the U.S • Currently only Japanese companies have any major successful handheld gaming consoles • American games have started to slowly gain more and more shelf space though. Now the percentage is about 50-50.
