  2. Welcome to La Jolla • UCSD 位於 San Diego 北方的 La Jolla. • La Jolla 市靠近海邊，是南加著名度假勝地. • 全年氣候乾燥舒適，早晚溫差約10度C,夏天不超過30度C,冬天最冷約5度C.

  3. San Diego • San Diego 是全美第六大都市,位於 LA南方120英里處.全市人口約兩百萬. • San Diego 是美國著名休閒度假城市,由於鄰近美墨邊境,整座城市也洋溢著些許拉丁風情.

  4. What You Need • 常用衣物:夏季、 秋季. • 正式服裝一套 (西裝包含皮鞋).運動鞋、休閒鞋. • 常備用藥. • 個人衛生用品. • 碗筷,餐具. • 雨傘. • 教科書. • 檯燈.

  5. Check In • 到 international center 報到: 攜帶護照, I-20、I-94. • 到系上報到: 找系辦人員辦學生證相關證件. (有些系上不幫忙辦) , 要先取得 PAC 然後選課. • 到 Office of Registrar: 現場照相拿學生證 PAC. • 到 parking office 取得公車 sticker. • 到 ACS 申請 e-mail 帳號. (AP&M 2樓) • 和 advisor 約談選課事宜. • Tritonlink 註冊選 http://tritonlink.ucsd.edu • 參加系上及 I-Center 的 orientation.

  6. Miscellaneous • 到銀行開戶: Saving account、Checking account. • 辦理 SSN. (需要有 on-campus job: TA、 Grader 、Proctor) • 報名考取駕照: 熟讀考古題、攜帶台灣駕照,線上報名筆試: https://eg.dmv.ca.gov/foAppt • 辦理行動電話.

  7. Food • San Diego消費水準較高,自己料理三餐是最經濟的選擇. • 學校附近有許多美國超市: Vons, Ralphs, Henrys. • 華人連鎖超市 Ranch 99. • Convoy St.上有許多家亞洲餐館.

  8. Clothing & Shopping • UTC Mall與 La Jolla Village Square 為離學校最近的商場,有許多家商店,電影院與梅西百貨. • Outlet 打折時會有很划算的deal. • Walmart, Costco可以買到物美價廉的東西. • Fashion Valley. • IKEA –新生剛來時最常去的地方.

  9. Housing • La Jolla 房價高漲, 學校宿舍不足. 學校宿舍共有 Mesa, Coast, SGA, La Jolla Del Sol. • Campus Housing: http://hds.ucsd.edu/hsgaffil/index.html • Off-Campus Housing: http://offcampushousing.ucsd.edu • 建議當場了解居住環境、價錢、地點、交通、室友.

  10. Transportation • 校內公車. • City Shuttle. • 校外公車. Sticker可以免費搭乘. • 腳踏車. • 開車. • 一般路邊停車免費,但是學校內停車要買permit.

  11. Recreation • 壘球: 固定每週六下午練球,參加校際比賽. • 羽球: 周五或周六; 建議攜帶球拍、球. • 桌球; 建議攜帶球拍、球. • 網球. • 游泳. • 衝浪. • 學校另有收費瑜珈、韻律舞、衝浪、高爾夫球等課程. • http://recreation.ucsd.edu
