  1. California law requires all drivers to have auto insurance. The State of California’s Low Cost Automobile Insurance Program provides low-income, good drivers with an affordable insurance option. Driving without insurance could result in fines, having your license suspended, and your car impounded. California Department of Insurance

To qualify, you must: • Have a good driving record • Be at least 19 years old • Have been continuously licensed to drive for the past three years • Be able to meet low-income requirements • Have a vehicle valued at less than $20,000 • Live in one of the following counties: • San Joaquin • Stanislaus • *also available in 14 other counties You may be able to get insured for less than $400 per year!
