  4. Religion • Puritan were in Anglican church • Then established Colonial Massachusetts

  5. Geography/Climate • Mild short summers and long winters • Mountain, rivers, but very poor soil

  6. Natural Res./Economy • Major industries fishing, shipbuilding,ironworks,lumber,and whaling • Farming was very difficult from poor soil

  7. Cool Facts • Became a state on February 6,1788 • In 1641, General Goarr passed down The Massachusetts Body of Liberties
