  2. Background ORIGINS OF THE ASSOCIATION • FIRST STEPS AND CONSOLIDATION IN THE CENTER OF THE CITY PARISH OF “SANTA MARIA LA VIEJA” (1973-1975) • GRANTING OF TEACHING PERMISSION AS AN ATTACHMENT TO THE PUBLIC CENTRE OF ADULT EDUCATION OF CARTAGENA.-PARISH OF “PADRES CLARETIANOS” (1975-1978)

  3. NEW LOCATION.-PARISH OF SANTA FLORENTINA, IN “THE ENSANCHE“ AREA(1978-1980). • AUTHORIZATION TO USE THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS. TAKING PART IN THE P.R.E.A. (REGIONAL PLAN OF ADULT EDUCATION) WIDER EDUCATIONAL OFFER (1980-2001). • EXCLUDED FROM PUBLIC OFFER . LOCAL AND REGIONAL EDUCATION AUTHORITIES TAKE AWAY THEIR FINANTIAL SUPPORT. (2002 – 2009).

  4. Characteristics of the Association. It is interested also in offering basic education to facilitate the access to information technology. We give priority to literacy and to stimulating adult people`s educational development, using for that all available resources . We try to facilitate young people the access to employment through training programmes, vocational guidance and job–search techniques.

  5. The Association has undertaken research projects and developed materials adapted to the particular needs of these groups of people. Committed to educating in values, which allow the full development of people and make them able and willing to actively participate in their society, confront and analyse the problems of the world around them.

Projects and actions With students. • INNOVATIVE PROGRAMMES IN BASIC EDUCATION. • PROGRAMMES FOR ETHNIC MINORITIES AND ATTENTION TO DIVERSITY. • INNOVATIVE PLANS AND ACTIONS ON GROUPS OF WOMEN. • EDUCATIONAL PROJECTS FOR LABOUR LIFE AND ACCESS TO NEW TECHNOLOGIES • PLANS AIMED TO REACH AN ALL-ROUND TRAINING ON VALUES.

Present and Past difficulties • External • Lack of acknowledgement: local and regional. • Difficulty in understanding our project of social initiative. • Lack of adequate spaces to teach the groups of Basic Education. • Lack of stable finantial support. • Internal • Harmonizing the teaching offer with the voluntary teachers’ timetables. • Lack of time to train the cooperating teachers.
