  1. 2018 Assessment Weekweek commencing 23rd April 2018.Mrs T Liddell YEAR 8 Park Hall Academy. ART Length of Exam: 1 hour. Topic/s which will be covered: -Brazilian festival project. -Observational drawing/ Artist influences. -Record and Present(A03, A04) Equipment Required: Pencil Rubber Sharpener Fineliners Watercolours Artist Images (provided by teaching staff) Cartridge paper (provided by teaching staff) • Useful websites/resources/other information which might help students: • Students will be required to use the skills they learnt during lessons to complete a drawing to the best of their ability in reference to artist studied. • The following criteria will be the basis for assessment: • Record (A03) • Produce observations. • Apply tome to show a sense of form (3D qualities) • Draw with a controlled line. • Refer to own visual research which link to your work. • Experiment with drawing on a large scale. • Record from primary and secondary resources. • Present(A04) • Present your work well with good use of space. • Use materials appropriately and with creativity. • Show good understanding of composition. • Show links to prior work

  5. 2018 Assessment WeekWeek commencing 23rd April 2018. YEAR 8 Park Hall Academy Subject: French Length of exam: 10 minutes. Topics: Pupils have recently been studying rooms of the house and describing their home and local area in French. They will have a speaking exam and this will be answering questions, one-on-one with the teacher. The actual exam does not last long. However, the pupils are able to prepare possible answers and the sentences they may use beforehand in lessons leading up to their exam. Equipment Required: Pupils’ own planning (there will be a limited number of phrases they can bring in.) Skills Assessed: Fluency and pronunciation – how well the pupils try to ‘sound French’. Use of different tenses. Use of opinions and extending opinions using ‘parce que’ / ‘car’ (because). Use of different pronouns and names to describe others. (ie: ‘he’, ‘she’ and ‘they’) Use of different vocabulary and phrases they have found themselves. YEAR 8 Park Hall Academy Subject: PE Length of exam: 1 hour • Topics: • Girls – Gymnastics and Badminton • Boys – Fitness and Invasion Games • Equipment Required: • Full PE kit Skills Assessed: Physical – Activity specific skills, using these in a realistic/game situation Personal/Social – Determination, resilience, co-operation, working with others Cognitive – Decision making, knowledge and understanding of tactics to outwit an opponent. Showing understanding of the effects of exercise on the body. Knowing own strengths and weaknesses and understanding how to improve weaknesses. Useful Websites/sources of information:Practising skills on a regular basis will be of benefit, this can be achieved through our extra curricular program.

YEAR 8 – Block 3 Park Hall Academy Subject: Dance Length of exam: 1hr (Practical) 30 mins (Written) • Topics: • Musical Theatre • Social and Historical Context of Musical Theatre • Dance skills used in Musical Theatre Equipment Required: • Written Assessment – Lesson 10 • Each student is to complete a written knowledge test. • Pen • Practical Assessment - Lesson 9 • Each student is to perform in a whole class performance based on ‘Bad Guys’ and ‘So you wanna be a boxer’ from Bugsy Malone the Musical. • Bare feet • Girls – trousers/ leggings • Skills Assessed: • Accuracy of movement • Movement memory • Spatial awareness • Accuracy of timing • Interpretation of dance idea • Embodiment of character • Use of expression • Relationships with others • Useful Websites/sources of information: • You tube: Bugsy Malone the Musical • The supporting revision guide given to your child in week 9. This needs to be signed once you have seen them revising the information in preparation for this knowledge test.

YEAR 8 – Block 3 Park Hall Academy Subject: Drama Length of exam: 1hr (Practical) 30 mins (Written) • Topics: • Musical Theatre • Acting skills used in Musical Theatre • Characterisation Techniques and Drama Strategies Equipment Required: • Practical Assessment - Lesson 9 • Each student is to perform a character in ‘Fat Sam's Speakeasy’ script- taken from the Musical- Bugsy Malone • Script (lines must be learnt) • Written Assessment – Lesson 10 • Each student is to complete a written knowledge test. • Blue/Black Pen • (if possible) Green pen to peer mark • Skills Assessed: • Body language • Facial expressions • Use of voice- including use of an American accent (or Australian if playing Sandy!!) • Addition of drama techniques to the scenes given • Line learning • Contribution of ideas • Making full use of the rehearsal time given (Focus) • Working as a team • Useful Websites/sources of information: • YouTube: Bugsy Malone Movie Snippets • The supporting revision sheet given to your child in week 8/9.
