  3. Being Mindfulin Our Singing

  4. Mindful of Our Songs And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Ephesians 5:18-20

  5. Mindful of Our Songs Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. Colossians 3:16

  6. Mindful of Our Songs Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. Hebrews 13:15

  7. Mindful of Our Songs What is the conclusion then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the understanding. I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the understanding. 1 Corinthians 14:15

  8. Mindful of Our Songs Have you taught this doctrine: Faith comes by God’s Grace You are saved when you believe The city of God has not yet come God accepts us with repentance There is nothing you can do to be saved We are free from law in Christ

  9. Mindful of Our Songs 205 T'was Grace that taughtMy heart to fear. And Grace, my fears relieved. How precious did that Grace appearThe hour I first believed. There is also an antitype which now saves us—baptism…. 1 Peter 3:21a

  10. Mindful of Our Songs 637 Oh Wonderful City of God By Faith in the Distance I See But you have come …..to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem….. to the general assembly and church of the firstborn Hebrews 12:22-23

  11. Mindful of Our Songs 330 Just as I am Without One Plea…. Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” Acts 2:38

  12. Mindful of Our Songs 269 What can wash away my sins? Nothing but the blood of Jesus This is He who came by water and blood--Jesus Christ; not only by water, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is truth. 1 John 5:6

  13. Mindful of Our Songs 337 Free from the law, Oh happy condition So speak and so do as those who will be judged by the law of liberty. James 2:12

  14. Mindful of Our Songs Songs are written without understanding Where is a “Hill” or “Mount” Calvary Where is a “garden” Jesus waits Where is a “Beautiful Isle”

  15. Mindful of Our Songs Songs are written without understanding Must we cast them out? No; we must sing with understanding

  16. Sing With Understanding First: What do YOU mean in a song Nothing but the blood – no other kind Just as I am – repent now City of God – Is now AND to come

  17. Mindful of Our Songs 2 Timothy 2:11-13 For if we died with Him, We shall also live with Him. If we endure, We shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us. If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.

  18. Mindful of Our Songs 2 Timothy 2:11-13 For if we died with Him, We shall also live with Him. If we endure, We shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us. If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself. What did this song mean? God does not condemn us? God is always willing to forgive us?

  19. Sing With Understanding First: What do YOU mean in a song Second: Can someone else understand? “he who occupies the place of the uninformed……does not understand what you say” I Corinthians 14:16b

  20. Sing Mindful of Others 194 When we all get to heaven "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven” Matthew 7:21

  21. Sing Mindful of Others 371 Christ’s love is all I need But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

  22. Sing Mindful of Others 308 Where love is in the home, There’s harmony….there’s bliss Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution 2 Timothy 3:12

  23. Sing With Understanding Being Mindful of our songs may mean: Not singing what we want to hear Singing what is needed

  24. Praising God Only the saved can praise God One who turns away his ear from hearing the law, Even his prayer is an abomination. Proverbs 28:9 Will you please God?
