    3. En 1984 el Cdigo Civil indica que la ley determina el tipo de dao sujeto al rgimen de seguro obligatorio. En 1986 se publica el Cdigo de Trnsito y Seguridad Vial el cual obligaba a que todo vehculo contrate una pliza de Responsabilidad Civil.

    4. En 1995 se publican Decretos Supremos que obligan a los vehculos del Servicio Interprovincial y Urbano a contratar un seguro por accidentes de trnsito. En 1999 se publica la Ley General de Transporte y Trnsito Terrestre en la que se incluye el SOAT.

    7. Los siguientes accidentes no son cubiertos por el SOAT: Los causados en carreras de automviles y otras competencias de vehculos motorizados; Los ocurridos fuera del territorio nacional; Los ocurridos en lugares no abiertos al trnsito pblico; Los ocurridos como consecuencia de guerras, eventos de la naturaleza u otros casos fortuitos o de fuerza mayor originados por causas ajenas a la circulacin del vehculo automotor; y El suicidio y la comisin de lesiones auto inferidas.

    9. En Espaa, Mxico y Argentina el SOAT acta bajo la modalidad de Responsabilidad Civil, es decir se acuerda la prestacin con las vctimas. En Colombia, Chile, Bolivia, Per y Brasil el SOAT se indemniza, es decir no se discute el pago.
