  2. VESTAS SQUIRTERS • Problem – • Develop a Direct Tension Indicating Squirter that enables achievement of 510 kN or a little more, virtually every time the M36 bolt is tightened. • Solution – • An M36 “Euro” Squirter DTI

  3. VESTAS SQUIRTERS • Assemble bolt, DTI, flat washer in Skidmore Tester

  4. VESTAS SQUIRTERS • Squirter, then flat washer, then nut on bolt

  5. VESTAS SQUIRTERS • Nut goes on last

  6. VESTAS SQUIRTERS • Tighten Until the squirt event says “stop!” • Final tension does NOT depend on torque Click to activate movie ……

  7. VESTAS SQUIRTERS • The operator has stopped at the intended amount of squirted silicone, which is 528 kN!
