  2. Overview • Introduction • Working Principle • Mechanism of communication • Red Tacton Transceivers • Prototypes • Features of Red Tacton • Applications • Comparisons with other technologies • Conclusion

  3. Introduction • Red Tacton was developed on 30 Aug 2005 at NTT by a 7 persons team led by Yuitchi Kado in Atsugi, in West of Tokyo. • Red Tacton chips will be embedded in machines and contain a transmitter and receiver built to send and accept data stored in digital format.

  4. Red- Warmth, T-Touch ,Acton-Action. • Human Area Networking technology . • Uses the minute electric field emitted on the surface of the human body as a safe high speed network transmission path.

  5. A transmission path is formed at the moment a part of the human body comes in contact with a Red Tacton transceiver. • Communication is possible using any body surfaces, such as the hands, feet, fingers, arms, face, legs or torso. • Red Tacton works through shoes and clothing as well.

  10. Features

  11. Touch • Touching, gripping, sitting, walking, stepping & other human movements can be the triggers for unlocking or locking, starting or stopping equipment, or obtaining data.

  12. BROADBAND & INTERACTIVE

  13. ANY MEDIAIn addition to the human body, various conductors and dielectrics can be used as transmission media. Conductors and dielectrics may also be used in combination Conductors (signals travel along the surface )

  14. Dielectrics(signals pass through materials) Conductors+Dielectrics(Combination of travelling along and passing through materials)

  15. ADVANTAGES • Communication by just a Simple Touch thus eliminating use of hectic arrangements of wires. • Transmission speed does not deteriorate in congested areas where many people are communicating at the same time. • Provides high speed and accuracy • Secure Data Transmission.

  16. contd… • Red Tacton transceiver electrodes are covered with an insulating film. Disadvantages Very high initial cost. Complexity in design.

  17. Applications • One to one services An Alarm sounds automatically to avoid accidental medicine ingestion Touch advertising and receive information

  18. Device personalization. Just sitting in the seat triggers the car to load all its presets just the way you like.

  19. Intuitive operation of personal information. Touch printer to print Instantaneous private network transfer via personal handshake

  20. New Behavior Patterns • A network connection is initiated simply by placing a lap-top on the table. • Users can listen to music from a Red Tacton player simply by putting on a headset or holding a viewer.

  21. Security Applications User verification and unlocking with just a touch Automatic access log for confidential document storage.

  22. Communication in new domain • Potential for use as communication method inside the human body Potential for use as communication method in outer space and under water with devices inside the human body

  23. Comparisons with other technologies

  24. Conclusion • when compared with other technologies present today it can give a better performance over others. • Since it provides high speed communication, it can provide seamless service wherever, whenever & whoever uses it. • In this technology there is no problem of hackers as our body is itself a media.
