  2. My Personal Strengths • Math & Science – These are my best subjects. • Machines – I have a dirt bike and a snowmobile. I often do repairs on them. • Independent work – I enjoy working by myself on projects. I can stay focused for a long time. • Computers – I can learn new programs and technology quickly.

  3. My Personal Interests • Speed Skating – I have been speed skating for 4 years. I often compete in tournaments. • Nature – I enjoy being outdoors. I like camping and hiking. • Other Countries – I like learning about other countries in the world. I want to travel. I have been to six other countries.

  4. Some Possible Careers • Air Pilot • Civil Engineer • Geological Engineer

  5. Air Pilot • Fly aircraft and helicopters for transportation and other services. • Workforce is 95% male. • In BC, the largest demand is in the Northeast.

  6. Civil Engineer • Civil engineers plan, design, develop and manage projects for the construction or repair of buildings, roads, bridges and dams. • Workforce is 87% male. • Work for private companies or the government.

  7. Geological Engineer • Carry out geological and geotechnical studies to assess suitability of locations for civil engineering, mining and oil and gas projects. • Workforce is 77% male. • Most work for mining, gas, and oil companies.

  9. Why an Air Pilot? • I enjoy working with machines. I like cars, motorcycles, snowmobiles and planes. • I like to travel. If I’m a pilot, I can travel the world as part of my job. • I’m good at Math and Science. You need to be good at both to fly a plane.

More Information on Air Pilots • Average Salary is $66 000 to $95 000. • Unemployment rate is 2.6%. • The current demand for workers in Canada is 7300. • There will be 7800 job openings in 2020. • Education – Air pilots need to graduate from a certified aviation school. • Air Pilots work for companies and the military.
