Our first colour is GREEN which represents AFRICA Greenwas chosen to show the forests and grasslands of Africa Our Prayer for Africa Let us pray for the people of Africa and all the missionaries working there. Let their work be helpful for all. Let us pray for the doctors, nurses and medical staff who bring medical care to the sick in Africa and around the world. Amen ‘He has sent me to bring good news to the poor, to proclaim liberty to captives and to the blind new sight, to set the downtrodden free.’ (Luke 4:18)

Our second colour is RED which represents THE AMERICAS Red was chosen to remember the fire of faith that inspired missionaries to travel to the Americas Our Prayer for the Americas Let us pray for the people of the Americas and all the missionaries working there. Let us pray for all teachers and school staff who bring education to the children of the Americas and around the world. Amen ‘For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me a drink, a stranger and you welcomed me.’ (Matthew 25:35)

Whitewas chosen to represent the Pope, the Shepherd of the World, and his home in Europe Our third colour is WHITE which represents EUROPE Our Prayer for Europe Let us pray for the people of Europe and all the missionaries working there. We pray that the Church here continues to help all those in need, especially the sick. Amen ‘Jesus went all around Galilee teaching in the synagogues, proclaiming the Good News of the Kingdom and curing all kinds of diseases and sickness among the people.’ (Matthew 4:23-24)

Our fourth colour is BLUE which represents OCEANIA Bluewas chosen to remind us of the many oceans of Oceania Our Prayer for Oceania Let us pray for the people of Oceania and all the missionaries working there. Let us also pray for the Philippines and the other countries in the world where disasters have destroyed homes, hospitals, schools and churches, leaving orphans and despair. Amen ‘Whoever drinks this water will get thirsty again. But anyone who drinks the water that I shall give will never be thirsty again.’ (John 4:13-14)

Yellowwas chosen to remind us of the morning light that the sun brings to Asia Our fifth colour is YELLOW which represents ASIA Our Prayer for Asia Let us pray for the people of Asia and all the missionaries working there. Let us pray for the priests, nuns and aid workers who bring food and shelter to the children of Asia and children around the world. Amen You should pray like this, ‘Our Father in heaven, may your name be held holy, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.’ (Matthew 6:9-11)

  9. “Do not be afraid, I will rescue you …………….” Jeremiah 1.8 Will your colours inspire you to give generously and bring brightness and hope into the lives of some of the world’s poorest children ? “children helping children”
