  2. Government/ leader • Title- Taoiseach (tee- shock) • Name of current leader-Michael d. Higgins • Elected and appointed- Dail (house of Irish parliament) vote and designate how the polling. • Length of term- seven years and may not serve more than two years • Background/qualifications-must be nominated by the people, must be a citizen of Ireland, and must be 35 years of age or older.

  3. Law making • Name of law making body- known as the high court also known as the “judicial review” • Bicameral or unicameral structure- bicameral • Population- 4832765

  4. Important rights/ bill of rights • Freedom of speech/press- they do but there are consequences for any act of violence • Freedom of religion-yes and highly respected • Right to bear arms-yes do to the constitution

  9. Current relations with the united states • Relationship between Ireland and us the relationship with Ireland and the United States has been long based common ancestral ties and shared values. Education and medical research has been equal between the two along with many other things that are found in common.
