Overview • Four Year Project (2008-2012) • $5M total ($1.25M per year for 4 years) • Renewable in 2012-2016 another ~$5M • Extended in 2016-2020 another ~$3M • Total potential impact is $13M over 12 years (2008-2020) • 7 Community Colleges and 4 Universities • National in scope • Only National Center devoted to geospatial two-year education • Should impact ~ 10,000 learners by 2012

Goals Goal 1: Create a national clearinghouse of exemplary geospatial curriculum material and database web servicesincluding: learning objects, training modules, geodatabases, and sources of GIS, GPS, and remote sensing data. This repository will be peer-reviewed, instantly searchable, Internet-based, and continuously updated.

  6. Goal 2 Increase the capacity to educate geospatial technicians through new partnerships and collaborations, including articulation pathways between academic institutions and workforce-needs-assessment with industry partners.

  7. Goal 3 Increase the quantity, quality, and diversity of geospatial technicians to meet workforce needs.

  8. Goal 4 Increase the number of community college and secondary school teachers participating in professional development through the promotion of professional societies, informal education, and workshops, for example.

  9. Goal 5 Sustain the Center long-term by seeking collaborations and sources of funding to maintain and improve services and products.
