  2. Project Proposal • Design Process • Parts Created • Project Assembly/Bill of Materials • Exploded Assembly • 2D Multiviews of Parts and Dimensions • Modifications • Group Member Responsibilities • Design Challenges • Conclusion • References Overview

  3. Design and modify the EXI 450 main frame using SolidWorks to better suit the needs of modern hobbyists Total Parts=60 Project Proposal

  4. Each team member of Team LiquidWorks was given at least two parts to create using SolidWorks. The Design Tree to the left shows the steps used in order to create the part shown above. LiquidWorks Design Process

  5. As we can see, first the basic sketch is created followed by the revolve feature to create the part. Then another sketch is created and the cut-extrude feature is the used to complete the part. …Design Process Continued

  23. Lithium Battery-Used in RC Helicopters Dimensions-138.93mm * 36.08mm * 38.00mm Battery Tray-Used to support the battery on the EXI 450 Dimensions-54.66mm * 25.85mm * 6.00mm Modifications Implemented by Team LiquidWorks

  24. Battery Tray is too short to hold most conventional lithium batteries used in RC products. Allows for batteries to be strapped on more securely New Battery Tray that is nearly double in length Battery Tray Modification

  25. .48 in * .15in Access slots were created to make mounting hardware on the inside of the model easier Screws extremely hard to reach on the inside when mounting hardware Upper Frame Modifications

  26. Group Member Responsibilities

  27. Difficulties • Extremely small components • Precision cut parts • Built to be a precise flying model • Some parts were no more than .03 inches thick • Parts are made to be compatible (lots of holes) Solution= Hours of staring at a computer screen and Calipers Design Challenges

  28. LiquidWorks • Created a 3D Model of the EXI 450 • Created a set of working drawings- (Assembly, Exploded Assembly, 2D Drawings) • Modified the Upper Frame and Battery Tray • End Result Provides Adequate Representation and Successfully Displays the Efforts and Ideas of Team LiquidWorks • Things to do Differently-Pick a More Simple Project Conclusions
