  1. North Seattle Community College Poets & Writers Series New Voices New Voices of students Susan Fried, Joseph Gavrin, Autumn Gray & Rozlyn Rox selected by Creative Writing Instructors Pesha Gertler, Deborah Green, Tracy Heinlein. Susan Fried, photographer for The Skanner, an African-American newspaper, and freelance photographer, considers herself more of a visual artist rather than a writer. Nonetheless, the political environment often evokes words of fire and humor from her pen. She is a student of Pesha Gertler’s ongoing “Women’s Creative Writing” series which focuses on generating writing. Joseph Gavrin likes graphic arts, writing poems, and walking his dog. He considers it an honor to be taking a creative writing class and to appear in this reading. Rozlyn Rox is a 25 year old amateur beat poet and fooze ball player. She currently attends NSCC in the hopes of one day figuring out what she wants to do with her life. Rozlyn attends open mics and poetry slams around Seattle and in 2003 she was a Chattanooga Slam winner. Both Joseph and Rozlyn are students of Deborah Green, who wants each student to experience his or her own creative process. Autumn Gray has been profusely producing visual, literary, and performance art, ever since she discovered the wonders of communication and opposable thumbs. She also volunteers for Animal Talk Rescue and is the servant of 4 cats. She is working toward a degree in Science so that she can teach Math, Informatics, and Computer Science in a community college. She is the student of Tracy Heinlein, literary editor and instructor of creative writing online. Open Mic Follows Reading June 8, 2007 7:30 - 9:30 PM Rose Room, NSCC, 9600 College Way N.
