  3. Registering a new organization • 1. Register on OrgSync • 2. Recruit members • 3. Create Constitution • 4. Acquire a Faculty/Staff Advisor • Turn all information into Jayme Watkins, who will pass it along to SGA for final approval • Organization must have a President. • If the organization would like to apply for SGA funding, they must have a Treasurer.

  4. Benefits of Registration • 1. Use of the name of the campus organization in connection with the name of the college and use of the college logo within guidelines. • 2. Participate in the annual Fall Activities Carnival. • 3. Use of College facilities, including buildings, grounds, and certain equipment. • 4. The ability to conduct fundraisers on-campus. (With proper approval) • 5. Eligibility to apply for Student Government Association funding. • 6. Eligibility for assistance from the Office of Student Life. • 7. Permission to advertise on campus. (With proper approval) • 8. The ability to be included in OrgSync and have your membership and alumni recorded by the College for future use. • 9. The ability to be listed in on-line directories and publications of involvement opportunities at Randolph-Macon College.

  6. Effective Organizations • 1. Has a clear mission, sense of identity, and direction • 2. Communicates effectively both within the organization and externally • 3. Continually maintains strong, knowledgeable leadership • 4. Stays committed to the organization’s shared values • 5. Sets out to accomplish clear, measurable goals • 5. Has a desire to continually evolve and create new visions to enhance the mission • 6. Continually works to meet the needs of its membership and the community • 7. Takes time to reflect on actions and reward itself for outstanding efforts

Advisor • Who can be an advisor? • Any full-time faculty or staff member of Randolph-Macon College What is their typical role? • Attend organization meetings and events on a regular basis • Attend organization retreats • Support the organization in their endeavors • Be available in case of an emergency • Monitor financial accounts • Assist in developing realistic goals • Oversee the organization without making decisions for them • Give advice, suggestions, and challenge when appropriate Have a conversation with your advisor about your expectations of each other

Posting Policy “The posting of signs, handbills, and flyers in the academic and administrative buildings at Randolph- Macon College will be limited to recognized student organizations, departments, and offices of the College. Signs should not be posted on walls (interior or exterior), trees or shrubs, windows, doors, etc. Bulletin Boards are provided in each building for posting information. Posters and flyers must be stamped by the Office of Student Life. Posters and Flyers that are stamped by the Office of Student Life have an approval expiration date (This date is usually 1-2 days following the event listed on the flyer.) Student organizations are responsible for taking down expired flyers. This will be monitored by the Office of Student Life.”
