Introduction • They are present for Bible study on Sunday morning and Wednesday evening • They attend both Sunday morning and evening worship services • When the church has a gospel meeting, they attend each service • They frequently attend gospel meetings at other congregations Some Christians attend every service of the church whenever possible

  3. Introduction • Only once on Sunday, and that sporadically • Do not participate in the Bible studies • Are not present for most services during local gospel meetings • As for attending a gospel meeting elsewhere...very unlikely Other Christians attend infrequently

  4. Introduction • Why the difference? • Are there real spiritual consequences? • Why should EVERY Christian ATTEND EVERY service possible?

  5. Hebrews 10:23-25 23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) 24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: 25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

  6. "Why Attend Every Service?" To Fulfill The Commands Of God “Not To Forsake Our Assembling”... He 10:25 • The word “forsake – • Vines –( enkataleipoµ)from en, in, and No. 1, denotes (a) to leave behind, among, leave surviving, Rom. 9:29; (b) to forsake, abandon, leave in straits, or helpless, • RWP - “Not leaving behind, not leaving in the lurch” (2 Tim. 4:10). While one may not have totally abandoned assembling with other Christians by attending only once a week, one has left the work and duties given to all Christians to others thus neglecting his/her share of responsibility NEGATIVELY

  7. "Why Attend Every Service?" To Fulfill The Commands Of God • Consider One Another – (Heb 10:24) • Stir Up Love & Good Works - (Heb 10:24) • Exhorting One Another - (Heb 10:25) • Edify One Another – (Rom. 14:19; 15:1-3; Heb. 3:12-14) • Seek First The Kingdom of God – (Mat 6:33; 10:37,38; Luke 14:26) POSITIVELY

  8. "Why Attend Every Service?" To Grow And Develop Spiritually • The design of Bible Classes – (Heb. 5:12-14; Titus 2:1-6; Eph. 4:11-16) • The design of Preaching - (2 Tim 4:2; Col. 1:28) • The design of Singing - (Eph. 5:19; Col. 3:16) • The design of Prayer – (Acts 2:42,46,47; 4:24-31) All of Our Services Are Designed For Spiritual Growth...

  9. "Why Attend Every Service?" To Help The Church Function Properly • The church is like a body, needing every individual part to do its share – Eph 4:15-16; 1 Co 12:12-19 • Visiting the sick, Helping the needy, Teaching the lost, Strengthening the weak . . .etc. • Do you want the church to grow? • A church is no stronger than the collective strength of its members The Local Church Needs Workers

  10. "Why Attend Every Service?" To Provide A Good Example And Influence • The church is like a body, needing every individual part to do its share- Eph 4:15-16; 1 Co 12:12-19 • Visiting the sick, Helping the needy, Teaching the lost, Strengthening the weak . . .etc. • A church is no stronger than the collective strength of its members • To Provide A Good Example And Influence To Provide A Good Example And Influence

  11. Do All Things Without Murmurings Philippians 2:14-16 Do all things without murmurings and disputings: (15) That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; (16) Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.

  12. Do All Things Without Murmurings • A Lack of Faith - Num 14:2-4; Ps 106:24-25; Heb 3:16-19; 1 Cor. 10:10 Those Who Murmur Manifest: Psalm 106:24-25 (NKJV) Then they despised the pleasant land; They did not believe His word, [25] But complained in their tents, And did not heed the voice of the Lord. (cf. Num 14:2-4)

  13. • Those who murmur manifest – • A lack of faith • A lack of gratitude • A lack of joy • A lack of a sense of responsibility – • What is the result of “DOING ALL THINGS without murmuring?” (15,16)

  14. So why do some of us attend every service? • Because we LOVE Christ – Jn 14:15 • Because we are Friends of Christ – Jn 15:14 • Because we WANT to ENCOURAGE each other – Heb. 10:25 • Because we WANT to be in ONE MIND – 1 Cor. 1:10 • Because we WANT NO DIVISION – 1 Cor. 1:10

  16. If not a Christian… • Do want to have this type of fellowship and be able to do this with all Christians? • Hear His Word – Romans 10:17 • Believe that Jesus is the Son of God – John 8:24 • Repent of your sins – Luke 13:3 • Confess the name of Jesus – Romans 10:9-10 • Be Baptized in the blood of Christ – Acts 2:38 If a Christian, Have you LOST LOVE for God?
