2. ‘Must Knows’ About the AYSO Playground Soccer Program • Any Region can start PLAYGROUND Soccer, no restrictions, no hurdles • PLAYGROUND Soccer is a one hour maximum weekly activity • Season typically lasts 6-8 weeks depending on a Region’s field availability and weather. • This is NOT soccer games, this is Fundamental Motor Skill Development (FMSD) that will lead into future soccer specific skill learning More Info –www.aysoplaygroundsoccer.org

3. Activity Leader For Playground Soccer, the Program ‘Activity’ Leader needs to be: • Familiar with the AYSO National Coaching Program • Understands the needs and capabilities of 3 year olds • Sensitive to the needs of the parents.

4. Duties • Conduct a Parent Meeting, explaining this is not a team based program and does not use competitive games to teach fundamental motor skills. • Review the Parent Orientation Video • Conduct only age appropriate activity sessions from the Playground Manual • Promote the AYSO philosophies • Knowledge of appropriate expectations for young children • Ability to create a warm, non-threatening environment

5. Desired Qualifications • Currently registered and accepted volunteer. • Knowledgeable of appropriate expectations for young children • Enjoys working in an instructional environment with young children • Is energetic and enthusiastic • Values all children • Ability to recognize when children need encouragement and/or motivation • Has desire to learn the techniques necessary for teaching motor skills • Has good interpersonal skills and processes the ability to communicate well with parents • Respectful of children and their parents • Ability to remain calm in all situations • Values good sportsmanship

6. Ideal Candidates • Pre-School / Kindergarten Teachers • Early Childhood Development • Demonstrated ability to work well with young children • Completed AYSO’s Safe Haven • Review Playground Manual • Review Playground Parent Video • Instructor Training is strongly encouraged

7. Equipment Bag The equipment will last multiple seasons if used properly and stored safely. The kit/bundle can support 10-15 players with parents per training session and can be used multiple sessions per day during the season. if taken care of appropriately. A mini-equipment kit is also available for $199 PLAYGROUND Soccer T-Shirts for players with the ‘official’ PLAYGROUND logo are available through SCORE. Regions may use standard player uniforms or local Regional T-Shirts.
