  6. What About the Question of Roles and Responsibilities in Marriage? Who does what and why? Does he or she do it? It is because of what the church has said? Or is it because that’s the way it was done in your parents home?

  7. Establishing Responsibilities

  8. Failure to clarify husband-wife roles & responsibilities is a major cause of marital disruption.

  9. The assignment of tasks shouldn’t be made simply because of parental example, because it’s expected in your social group, or because of tradition. Each couple will need to have the strength to establish their own style of working together. It is important that a couple deliberately and mutually develop the rules and guidelines for their own relationship as husband and wife.

  10. What does the bible have to say concerning the role of the wife and the role of the husband? Ephesians 5:21-33

  11. 1 Peter 3:1 1Wives, in the same way be submissive to your husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives…

  12. Colossians 3:18 - Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Acts 5:29 - Peter and the other apostles replied: “We must obey God rather than men! Q. How do these scriptures affect the wife’s submission to her husband?

  13. Submission Submission does not mean that the wife is inferior, nor should it stifle her initiative. It does not limit her in any way. Q. How does the Proverb 31 woman use her abilities

  14. What does Ephesians 5 say about the role of the husband? Ephesians 5:21-33

  15. Q. What example should the husband exhibit as he leads the marriage relationship?

  16. In marriage each one gives to and receives from the other. Marriage is built upon each person being a compliment to the other. Mutual Submission

  17. When a man and a woman unite in marriage, humanity experiences a restoration to wholeness. The glory of the man is the acknowledgement that woman was created for him; the glory of the woman is the acknowledgement that man is incomplete with out her; the humility of the woman is the acknowledgement that she was made for man; the humility of the man is that he is incomplete without her. Both share an equal dignity, honor, and worth. Yes, and each shares a humility before the other. Each is necessarily the completion of the other; each is necessarily dependent upon the other. Dr. Dwight Small
