  2. Das Kartoffelmuseum? • When most people think of museums or art they naturally think of sculptures. • Think again… • This is a Potato Museum

  3. Potato Cont. • The Potato Museum, an institution of Eckart Otto Foundation, was opened in 1996 in Munich.  • It shows a diverse collection of exhibits on the subject of potato. • It is the world's only museum that is dedicated exclusively to the potato in art and art-historical terms.

  4. Cont. • oil paintings, watercolors, prints, drawings, lithographs, naive glass painting, and modern graphics • everything is represented, has something to do with the potato and / or produced from their products.

  6. cont • The reason this museum is so dedicated to the potato is because its founder was the first to produce “dried potato powder, which, with the addition of water, could be turned into mashed potatoes or other delicacies.” • Unlike other potato museums this is the only one that is dedicated to potato art and its history • Others are often based upon agricultural terms.
