  1. Reactions Paul Mac 2004

  2. Reactions Stage 1 Random Number Generator : Creates a random number and feeds it in parallel to a down counter. Down counter then counts down from that number to 0. At 0, it activates Stage 2.

  3. Reactions Stage 2 The community registry is cleared and preset to binary 1. Player buttons are activated.

  4. Player Buttons and Registry When a player buzzes in a clock pulse is generated and is sent to the registry flip-flops to “grab” the current number in the community registry.

  5. Player Buttons and Registry (cont) A pulse is then generated by the push buttons that is fed to the community registry clock to increase the number in registry by 1.

  6. Numbers On Display The number that was “grabbed” from the community registry was fed to the players D flip-flop and it is shown on the seven segment display.

  7. Making It Work The registry uses 3 JK flip-flops (7476). In each players section there is an RS Latch and 3 D flip-flops (7474). A seven segment display driver (7447) is used to operate the display used.

  8. Making It Work (cont) 2 RS Latches are utilized in the start button (7400). 4 oscillators are used for the random number generator. A presetable down counter chip (74192) is used to create the down counter itself.

  9. Playing The Game When the start button is pressed a random number is generated. The number is counted down in seconds to 0. At 0 contestants try to buzz in the fastest. The first contestant to buzz in receives a 1 on the display. The second a 2, so on and so forth.

  10. Grand View Showing the contestant push buttons and also start and reset buttons

  11. Grand view of block 1 Showing the random number oscillator, preset able down counter register, and the start/reset latch.

  12. Random number generator A series of random oscillates fed to a 7427 NAND gate to generate truly random binary numbers

  13. The start/reset latch

  14. Presentable down counter Fed by the random number generator to count down to game start

  15. Over view of block 2

  16. Active/reset pushbutton control Clears and presets the registries for new games

  17. Community Registry Stores the place of the next person to buzzin

  18. The “Grabber” Each contestant has this circuit to grab the place from the community reg and load into their own reg

  19. Persional reg- each contestants place is loaded into this reg when hey buzzin, and is displayed on the 7 seg display
