reproductive systems can be divided into the internal reproductive organs and the external genitalia. The gonads are the actual organs that produce the gametes . In the male, testes produce sperm, and in the female, ovaries make eggs. Reproductive system. Female Reproductive System.

  2. Female Reproductive System • Functions- • Reproduction • Production of Eggs - through ovulation • Production of female sex hormone - oestrogen - Progesterone - Estrogen

  3. Structures • Ovaries • female gonad, in which the ova and the hormones that regulate female secondary sex characteristics develop. • Follicles • one of the small ovarian sacs containing an immature ovum. • Egg • Female sex cell • Oocyte • developing egg

  4. Structures cont. • Uterine tubes • Moves the ova from the ovaries to the uterus. • Uterus • Female organ where the fetus develops. • Vagina • The passage leading from the uterus to the vulva or birth canal.

  5. Estrogen • Produced by ovarian follicles • Main female sex hormone • Stimulates growth of uterus and vagina • Egg maturation • Menstruation

  10. Testosterone • Male sex hormone • Develops sex organs • Sperm production • Secondary sexual Characteristics • Facial hair • Deep voice • Baldness can also result from testosterone production
