Muscles that move the arm • Flexors- • Coracobrachialis- • Location: extends from the scapula to the medial humerus • Action: flexes & abducts the arm • Pectoralis Major- • Shape: thick, fan shaped muscle of the upper chest • Location: extends from the thorax to the armpit • Action: pulls the arm forward & across the chest

  3. Muscles that move the arm Flexors

  4. Muscles that move the arm • Extensors- • Teres minor- • Location: connects the scapula to the humerus • Action: extends the humerus; adducts/ rotates the arm medially • LatissimusDorsi • Shape: wide, triangular muscle • Location: extends upward from the lower back & around the side • Action: extends & adducts the arm, rotates the humerus; also pulls the shoulder downward & back

  10. Muscles that move the arm • Rotators- • Subscapularis- • Shape: large, triangular • Location: covers anterior surface of the scapula; connecting the scapula to the humerus • Action: rotates the arm medially • Infraspinatus- • Location: in the depression below the spin of the scapula; attach the scapula to the humerus • Action: rotates the arm laterally • Teres Minor- • Location: connects the scapula to the humerus • Action: rotates the arm laterally
