  1. What is Electricity? • Electricity is caused by the movement of VERY small particles called “Electrons” • Electronics is the business of making things that operate by the movement of electrons

  2. Elusive Electricity • Electricity can’t be seen, heard, smelt, felt or tasted… • …unless it has enough energy to kill you! • We will use safe supplies of electricity in this course

  3. Practical Task Number One • Part One is to use an Electricity Supply, some wires and a light bulb to make the light bulb glow. • Part Two is to draw a picture of how you set it up so you can do it again if you need to.

  4. Shortcuts Mr H’s Grandad said “Give the hardest job to the laziest person – so s/he can find the easiest way of doing it.” Circuit diagrams!

  5. Circuit Diagrams ______________ = a wire (straight lines and SQUARE CORNERS only) = a light bulb = a power pack

  6. Time to take a short cut Redo your picture in your book using the correct circuit diagrams

  7. The Opposite Process You have drawn a circuit from some gear. Now try to set up a circuit from a diagram.

  8. Here is another to try There are several ways of making this one.
