Conclusion: Long Term Effects • It is the most practiced religion in the world as of 2012 • Early in its history it has caused some issues for its followers: • Many Roman followers were beheaded, tortured, or thrown to the lions. • Christianity sparked The Crusades • A country was created to worship Christianity (The Vatican)

The Crusades • The First Crusade • It helped re-open western trade routes • It began as a pilgrimage of people from France and Germany, but ended as a Roman Catholic Army military campaign • FUN FACT: The armies were supposed to assemble in 1097, but nobody showed up. (lol) • Eventually, the Catholic Army recaptured Jerusalem in 1099. • There would eventually be nine other crusades as time went on.
