Excludedelderlypeople in Catalonia CHARACTERISTICS OF EXCLUDED ELDERLY PEOPLE • Social exclusion and poverty (Pujadas y Mendiazábal, 2002): • Differentlevels of social aspects: • Integrationarea: stablejob and solid familiar and social relationships • Vulnerabilityarea: workinstability and fragilerelationshipwithfamily and others • Exclusionarea: no economicresources, non proteccionfromgoverment, no job.

  4. Excludedelderlypeople in Catalonia • The Obra Social Santa Lluïsa de Marillac is a social integration program for society’s most vulnerable people in need of aid. They are run by the ‘Daughters’ Charity, a society of nuns founded by Sant Vicenç of Paül and Saint Luisa de Marillac, in the XVII century in Paris.

  12. Excludedelderlypeople in Catalonia Sant Camil Housing Unit project Through this project, the organization provides 6 supervised apartments for people with serious housing problems. Run by Caritas. • Who they attend: • People who are attended in this project are over 60 or with isolation problems and without family support. • Live in the Old city, Barceloneta and Gótico, district I of Barcelona. • People with housing problems: without house or without living conditions, living on pensions, subtenants, without conditions. • - People with problems of loneliness, social isolation, without family support and affection they need reinforcement, containment and monitoring aspects.

Excludedelderlypeople in Catalonia Objectives: - Improve quality life - Improve living conditions - Reduce situations of begging and marginalization. - Provide resources for them to cover their basic needs: food, hygiene, place to sleep, health. - Accompaniment and support the basic activities of daily living. - Strengthen relationships from interdependence. - Create habits of individual and group responsibility. - To enable coexistence with others.
