  4. VSAMS Overview VSAMS is an Excel-based system used to manage supplier new model readiness: • Cross functional team (Visteon & supplier) approach • Establishes required program elements to be completed on time with acceptable quality to ensure program success • Reporting - Critical path “Glidepath” elements, RIO’s (Risks, Issues, Opportunities), Build Events and PPAP • VPD2S - Consistent with VPD2S build phases • Escalation tool that triggers management assistance for timely resolution of issues

  5. VSAMS Overview VSAMS was developed to improve the Visteon launch quality of event by: • Identifying and drive required program elements with appropriate timing • Results in effective resource management and resolution of issues early in the program • Providing senior management escalation path • Improving cross-functional team communications and process uniformity

  8. Basic Terminology • APQP - Advanced Product Quality Planning: Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) is a structured method of defining and establishing the steps necessary to assure the product satisfies the customerThe goal is to facilitate communication with everyone involved to assure that all required steps are completed on time (from AIAG 4th Edition) • VSAMS - Visteon Supplier APQP Management System (Visteon’s implementation of APQP) • PPAP – Production Part Approval Process • PSW – Part Submission Warrant APQP (VSAMS) is used to manage supplier readiness for PPAP approval. Once the PSW package is approved and the Functional Check Report (FCR) is approved by the plant, parts may be shipped to a Visteon plant.

  9. Evolution of APQP/PPAP The origin of APQP/PPAP traces back to ISO 9000: The ISO (International Organization for Standardization) established quality management system requirements applicable to many industries. ISO 9000 and ISO 9001:2000 The AIAG (Automotive Industry Action Group), including DaimlerChrysler, Ford Motor Company, and General Motors) added automotive-specific elements to ISO 9000 that became QS9000. QS9000 In 2002, the IATF (International Automotive Task Force) with members including ISO, AIAG and other groups, established the current requirements, replacing QS9000. ISO/TS 16949:2002 builds upon ISO 9001:2000 with automotive specific requirements. ISO/TS16949:2002

  10. Evolution of APQP/PPAP • Consolidation - ISO/TS16949 consolidated quality systems in place in many different countries and used by various associations. • Global Standard - Today, ISO/TS16949:2002 is a key standard used across the automotive industry worldwide. • Visteon Certification - Visteon is certified to the standard. A requirement of our Visteon certification is that our suppliers must be certified to ISO/TS16949:2002. • AIAG and CSR - Suppliers must meet the requirements • Identified in five AIAG reference manuals • and comply with the Visteon Customer • Specific Requirements (CSR) found on • the Visteon Supplier Portal on Covisint

  11. Evolution of APQP/PPAP • Suppliers: • All suppliers are required to obtain PPAP approval from Visteon, meeting ISO/TS16949:2002 requirements Suppliers PPAP Visteon VISTEON • Visteon: • Obtains PPAP approval from our customers who require ISO/TS, or • Obtains end item approval according to the OEM specific requirements PPAP or End Item Approval CUSTOMER

  12. Alignment of VSAMS with VPD2S VPDS PHASES: VSAMS aligns directly with the VPD2S Phases Prototype Phase Readiness Plan Pilot Phase Readiness Plan Launch Phase Readiness Plan VSAMS PHASES: Post-SOP Workplan
