  3. Why Thermal Transfer printing? The digital print technology combines the flexibility of computer technology with the quality of Hot Foil coding. • High resolution (300 dpi) • Consistent print quality • Durable print • Extensive font library in both TTF and Bitmap • High resolution graphics and logos

  4. The Principles of Thermal Transfer printing An image is printed using ink transfered from the ribbon and bonded to a flexible substrate by applying pressure and heat to release the format via energised dots.

  6. Principal of intermittent The printhead moves down then from left to right while the ribbon and substrate stay stationary.. Printhead 4 Ribbon 1 3 2 Substrate After the format has been printed, the ribbon is rewound and the substrate moves to its next position

  7. Principal of continuous The printhead moves up and down while the ribbon and the substrate move forward. Printhead Ribbon Substrate An encoder reads the speed of the substrate and feeds the information to the printer. The ribbon moves at the same speed as the substrate.

  10. 53E The ideal alternative to Hot Foil Coders. Print area: 53 X 30

  11. SERIES 2 intermittent Compatible with most intermittent motion packaging and labelling machinery. Print area: 53 X 53 to 107 X 160

  12. SERIES 2 continuous Compatible with most continuous motion packaging machinery. Print area: 53 X 500 to 107 X 250

  14. Printer Frames Over the past 30 years, OPEN DATE has designed and manufactured frames to suit all types of packaging machinery. - Labelling machines - Vertical bagging machines - Horizontal bagging machines - Thermopack machines - Etc…

  15. Labelling Machines

  16. Vertical bagging machine

  17. Horizontal bagging machine

  18. Standard Frames Over the years we have been able to establish a standard frame design to suit most labelling machines. All that remains is to adapt the standard frame to the parent machine.

  19. Printing requirements Dates, Lot No., real time Prices, weights Numbering, codes Lines, boxes Barcodes Logos & graphics Database Networking Etc…

  20. Software In order to answer all of the customer’s needs, Open Date writes & supplies it’s own software. • CODESOFT PREMIER FORMAT DESIGN Windows based software enabling all current format design. • NETMODE Up to 99 printers can be networked together enabling print formats to be sent and updated as well as providing information of the current status of each printer from a central station. • SERVICEMODE Enables customer to control and update format and printer parameters. • RECOVERMODE Simplified version of ServiceMode to recover initial printer and format status.

  21. Main Features All electric operation No air (3 stepper motors) High speed communications (115200 KB per seconde) High speed image generation and updating via dual image memory Up to 6 metre connection cables 3.6 megabyte user memory 11 printer models in the range Electronic adjustable print position Spy chip technology (automatic resistance, print width, meterage) Auto detect product before printing Ultra high speed cycle time (using lower speed for optimum quality) Self levelling printhead Network up to 99 printers Real time printing with customisation

  22. Main Features Local or global graphics Multi level passwords (customisation of level names & codes) Standard Mini Terminal Up to 250 formats stored within the printer memory Updating variable fields using a database Standard WYSIWIG Windows software Quality engineered product with minimal maintenance requirement Power supply can be integrated into the parent machine Can be used without magazine to print on thermal substrate 2 ribbon sensors for optimum security Each printhead is individually adjusted to Kyocera specifications In house software department for optimum control and flexibility Electronic print positionning Low/end of ribbon warning with user output
