  2. Cornell Format • Developed during 1950’s by Walter Pauk • Consists of 3 labels • Cue Column • Notes • Summary

  3. Format Your Paper • First column is the Cue Column in which we do not write on until later. • Cue column should be the first column to the left.

  4. Take notes leaving the Cue Column blank ! • Second column is NOTES which is to the right of your paper. • This column should be filled up with charts, drawings, sentences, etc…

  5. Condense your notes in the Cue Column • Ask your self questions about the notes you just took and write them in the Cue Column. • List key words from notes in the Cue Column. • Be brief ! DO not cram the Cue Column with words.

  6. Write a Summery • Last column of your notes is the summery, which should be at the bottom of your paper. • Reduce your notes. • Put the information together and conclude in your own word. • This column also, makes reviewing for the test easier.

  7. Use the Cue Column to recite ! • Cover your Notes Column. • Answer to questions you wrote from your Cue Column. • Define key words from the Cue Column. • And check your self by uncovering the Notes Column.
